It’s Time to Transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Monday Aug 15 2022
All standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new traffic data on July 1, 2023. Odney team members have started the process of migrating website clients over to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect new data. In the short term, GA4 will not replace your current property, but instead will be a new addition. This new property is the upcoming standard for website analytics.
Setting up GA4 sooner rather than later allows us to build up a history of data for year-over-year comparisons in 2023. Google has provided a GA4 setup assistant in your current analytics accounts. This assistant works automatically on gtag.js sites, but if you use a website builder such as WordPress, Wix, etc., you will need to add the analytics tag or send it to your website developer to implement.
All future website properties created will default to GA4. So, what are the benefits?
Improved tracking of your customer’s journey
Improved analysis of user engagement with your site and/or app using cross-platform tracking
Improved user privacy and tracking features
Goal and event setup is much easier
Enhanced reporting and visualizations of your data
This release is the largest update in over a decade to Google Analytics properties with new interfaces and functionality. Change can be scary, but as your partner, Odney will help guide you through this new and exciting transition.
